A pregnant woman is bitten by a Vampire, shortly after Blade (Wesley Snipes) is born. Unwilling to accept the life he was born into he fights the "thirst" by injecting a serum into his blood stream. Blade has all the power of the Vampires, however, unusually he is able to withstand Sun light, because of this they call him Day walker. Unable to forgive the death of his mother Blade goes on a rampage of revenge, killing any Vampires he can find, it is his mission!
Whistler (Kriss Kristofferson) found Blade when he was 13 years old, he becomes Blades friend and accomplice, crafting new weapons for Blade to use to hunt his prey and assisting when and where he can.
Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff) is drawing attention to the Vampires by running nightclubs where Vampires gather and party with "guests" brought along to provide the food. He has no respect for the elders, who consider him to be jeopardising their hidden status within the community by his actions. Frost has another agenda, he wants to run an underground legion of Vampires to conquer mankind. When he learns of a prophecy that tells of a blood god he sets about decoding the secrets.

Score
Mark Isham does a good job of holding the tension throughout the film, the sound effects are clean and full through my setup.

Conclusion
Blade is a well implemented movie, it is sleek and the fight scenes are very well timed. Snipes is perfect as the main character who is extremely well supported by Kristofferson. The are a couple of nice special effects, however, they are not in the same league as the sequel.
All in all a good action packed movie with plenty of fight scenes, blood and gore complimented by a well written script.
